The Dandoko permit is located in West Mali and covers an area of 134km2. It is located on the same trend as the 5.6m oz Loulo gold mine (Randgold) and the 1m oz Tabokota-Segala mine (Nevsun Resources) and is in a similar geological setting.

Dandoko - RC Drillings Program

On the Dandoko permit, Compass is mobilizing an RC drill rig for a 3,600m scout drill program (30 holes) on targets identified early this year from mapping, geochemical sampling and the interpretation of a high resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey. Previous assay results returned significant gold grades up to 70 g/t in rock chip sampling of artisanal mine workings on the Dissé target (see Compass news release dated January 18, 2011). Gold mineralization will be tested to 50m below surface at the Dissé, Bembala, Diabarou and Gombaly targets.

This scout drilling program is expected to start in the next two weeks, once the RC drill rig clears temporary import custom formalities. The program is anticipated to be completed by late February 2012. Following this program, the RC rig will either return to the Dandoko Bembala target (in the case of positive assay results) or be mobilized to the Kolondieba permit.

The 2011 Phase 2 exploration at Dandoko consisted of the following:

  • Regolith mapping
  • Soil geochemical sampling (soil, rock and anthills)
  • Cleaning and sampling of old local miners’ pits
  • Trenching
  • Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey by Aeroquest from Australia

The table below summarizes the statistics of exploration works carried out from November 2010 to June 2011:

The key results of this work have previously been announced (News Releases dated January 18, 2011 and April 21, 2011) including the identification of two key gold targets: Disse and Bembala and several other targets: Selingouma, Diabarou, Dabia, Gombaly and Sakin. These are identified on the map below:

The key gold targets of Disse and Bembala will be drilled as part of the current 5,400m scout drill program. Specifically a 1,800m program is planned to commence in October 2011.
